Golden Arrow serves the entire metropolitan Cape Town area with services provided from six depots. As the sole provider of scheduled bus transport in the Western Cape metropole, the company plays a significant role in meeting basic needs as well as building the economy of the region.
Golden Arrow's history goes back to 1861 when the original Cape Town and Green Point Tramway Company was established. For more than 140 years road based scheduled public transport in Cape Town has been provided by a private operator, and after a series of mergers and acquisitions, the shareholding of the bus company was acquired in July 2004 by Hosken Consolidated Investments Limited, one of the premier black economic empowerment companies in South Africa.
Golden Arrow employs more than 2 400 people of all races and with a wide spectrum of skills. More than half of them are directly involved in the running of bus services, e.g. drivers, inspectors, regulators and dispatch officials.
Greyhound has been a name synonymous with passenger transport for many years, but even though Greyhound buses were operating on South African roads back in the 50s, the modern Greyhound service really began in 1984.
The face of passenger transport has changed radically in the last decade and using Greyhound as a means of transport has been made easier, safer, more comfortable and more reliable.
One of Greyhound's top priorities is making sure that customers are satisfied and able to access they information they need. Greyhound caters for all passenger requirements, giving passengers the service they want and can afford.
